Billy Goats Gruff

This week lots of our learning opportunities have been based on the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Here are some of the activities we have enjoyed so far.

Telling the story in the water tray with lentils and pasta to scoop and pour.

Making our own story maps of the story. Can you see the bridge. We really enjoyed drawing and talking about the characters and retelling the story. One child even put stars under his bridge to help the troll feel less mean!

We decided to build a very clever bridge for the goats and animals to cross.

The children loved playing with our pretend phones, talking through the story and writing messages.
"Hey, Mr Troll look up, someone is on your bridge you better move it" was one of our favourite overheard phone conversations.

We have enjoyed small world opportunities to role play the story

I wanted to paint the big scary troll!

We've built lots of bridges and used mask to role play the story independently outside.

I'm making the scary troll in the playdough. I also counted lots of goats into green grass fields!

The children loved watching this version of the story from YouTube. Why not watch it with your child?
